Dating Tips for Those Who've Been Out of the Game for a While by Holly McCarthy

If you are newly single, or haven't been out there for quite some time, the world of dating is somewhat new and improved, for lack of a better phrase. However, some of the same old rules still apply when it comes to dating. Take a look at some of the following tips if you feel like you might just be a little rusty when it comes to dating.

Be Yourself

Although it is some of the most cliché-sounding advice you'll ever hear, it is so true. More and more, individuality is something that is celebrated, no matter how homogenized our society seems to be becoming. We may have more options, but we are all slowly becoming conformists for various reasons. Don't change who you are for anyone else; if you are comfortable with who you are, you need to wait for the person who will love you for being you.

Take Care of Yourself

In order to feel good about yourself, you're going to need to have high self-esteem. Make sure that you take good care of yourself in various ways. Eat well and make sure you get plenty of exercise and activity. Buy clothes that complement your body right now and that make you feel good when you wear them. Get a great haircut and look sharp—you never know when you're gong to run into someone special.

Hang Out with Your Single Friends

No one understands the plight of a single person like another single person. Social events and gatherings are more fun when you have someone to share the experience with, and you may just run into two friends of the opposite sex who are looking for someone to meet as well. Get out and about with your single friends regularly and own your life. You will meet someone who's right for you in time.

Use Caution if You Decide to Date Online

There are many stories in the news about online predators and people who scan dating sites just looking for action. If you are really looking for something serious, look into online dating sites and read reviews of the sites by users. This is one great thing about using the internet: everyone's a critic. Check into dating sites thoroughly before picking one. Most are not entirely free if you are serious about finding someone online, so do your research.
