How it Began:
I had signed up and created my very own personal ad at one of the many dating sites hoping to find american singles from an Indian background. Answering all the questions and filling up all the necessary preferences, I began to contact some of the prettier singles.Receiving Countless Responses:
To my utter surprise, I was bombarded with responses. At first I was in seventh heaven and I danced with joy. I began answering as many as I could and even began selecting the prettiest of the prettiest. I talked on the phone to a few probables and I soon had my social diary full for the upcoming two weeks.
Meeting a Fair Lady:
On the day of my first date, I dressed up smart and with a smile from New York to Los Angeles, I glanced at the picture of the girl I was going too meet. She was a natural blond with blue eyes that sparkled like a newly opened bottle of champagne and a smile that could melt a lead heart.
The moment she saw me her face dropped, and she began to stammer about how I looked different at the dating site. She drank coffee with me, but I could see that she wasn't interested, and though she was even more beautiful than in the pictures, I ended her misery quickly and allowed her to escape.
Why?
Disappointed but still hopeful, I ignored that initial warning and comforted myself with the thought that I had another date the next day. But when that one ended in a somewhat similar manner – I knew something had gone terribly wrong. So I hurried to the dating site and checked my image. I was in for a shock. By mistake, I had posted an image of the bollywood heartthrob, Shahrukh Khan.
Now I realized why I had received so many answers and had been able to set up dates with so many beautiful American singles.
I immediately exchanged the snaps and then called all the women I was to meet and explained the mishap. They were all very nice, but I knew that they had agreed to meet me thinking I looked differently. I asked them to take a look, and then only if they still wanted to meet – to give me a call. Apologising again, I stared at the screen and hoped that my picture looked as good as that actor. But I knew I was not that handsome.
